Video Report: State DOT Executives Share Thoughts on Transportation Change

Nearly 50 experts from 34 state departments of transportation participated in one or more of the 800 sessions offered at the 2019 Transportation Research Board annual meeting Jan. 14-19 in Washington D.C.; including 12 agency executives who discussed a number of “pressing issues” affecting the state DOT community, such as workforce development, the deployment of connected and autonomous vehicles or CAVs, as well as the need for sustainable federal funding to revitalize America’s aging transportation systems.

January 15, 1970: An Aviation Innovator Completes His Life’s Journey
William Thomas Piper, Sr., an aircraft manufacturer and businessman who left an indelible imprint on the aviation industry, died in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, at the age of 89. During the course of his long career, Piper had become widely known as the “Henry Ford of aviation.”
