Video Report: Training Exercise Helped NYSDOT Prepare for Winter

One reason New York State Department of Transportation highway crews were not caught flat-footed by a series of harsh winter storms in January stemmed from a major severe winter storm training exercise held in Warrensburg, N.Y., on Dec. 18 last year. The video below entails the snow removal protocols reinforced by that exercise.

April 19, 1928: A Widely Acclaimed Lifeboat Captain Crosses the Bar
Theodorus “Dorus” Rijkers, who was credited with saving hundreds of lives from shipwrecks along the coast of the Netherlands, died at the age of 81 in Den Helder. Rijkers had been born in that Dutch city in 1847.
