
The annual meeting of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials will take place in St. Louis October 5-9 and registration remains open.
The meeting will feature a range of sessions touching on everything from how to support infrastructure deployments in support of automated transportation initiatives to the use of new financing and procurement processes for funding transportation projects.
Invited speakers for AASHTO’s 2019 annual meeting include Missouri Governor Mike Parsons (R) and U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao.
The 12th annual America’s Transportation Awards will also be presented at the organization’s annual meeting as well.

March 8, 1887: The Passing of “Captain Eads,” a Renowned Inventor and Civil Engineer
James Buchanan Eads, an internationally renowned inventor and civil engineer, died at the age of 66 while vacationing in the Bahamas. Eads had been born in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, in 1820. He was named after his mother’s cousin James Buchanan, who was a U.S. congressman at the time and would go on to become the 15th president.
