The National Operations Center of Excellence (NOCoE) – a partnership of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, the Institute for Transportation Engineers, and ITS America, with support from the Federal Highway Administration – is launching a fellowship initiative to help bolster interest in the Transportation Systems Management and Operations or TSMO discipline.
The NOCoE Fellowship is meant to complement other industry efforts by focusing providing non-technical support to entry to mid-level transportation professionals that includes: media training, writing skills that serves a broader audience beyond technical analysis, presentation skills, and networking.
The group’s fellowship program – which will sponsor a total of three to five candidates for one year, from July 2020 to June 2021 – is open to employees of state and local departments of transportation and metropolitan planning organizations. The deadline for nominations is May 1 and NOCoE said it will identify its first incoming class of fellows no later than May 21.
