The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials has appointed Doug Vaughn, chief financial officer with the Washington Department of Transportation, as vice chair of the organization’s Committee on Funding and Finance.

Appointed WSDOT’s chief financial officer in March 2017, Vaughn leads a team of financial professionals in areas that include accounting and financial services, budget, financial planning, debt management, transportation revenue forecasting, capital program development and management, and innovative partnerships.

Vaughn began his career at WSDOT working as a summer intern in the finance area while he earned his undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA.

He joined WSDOT full time in 1991, working in budgeting and finance areas. Vaughn subsequently spent eight years working in the Governor’s budget office on transportation and education issues before returning to the department in 2005 to become budget director.

Vaughn lives in Olympia with his wife Stephanie and has a daughter who lives in Seattle.
