The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials released the 2020 issue of AASHTO Magazine during its annual meeting November 9 through 13.
Available online and in print, the 2020 issue includes a wide array of stories from the state department of transportation community.
It includes a profile of Victoria Sheehan, commissioner of the New Hampshire DOT and 2020-2021 AASHTO president, about how she developed an affinity for the transportation industry growing up in Northern Ireland that carried over to her state DOT career in the United States.
It also contains a feature story on how state DOTs across the country, from New Jersey to California, continue to cope with the fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Finally, the magazine offers an in-depth look at the 12 finalists in the 2020 America’s Transportation Awards contest – focused on how those “Top 12” projects delivered economic benefits and quality of life improvements to their communities.
Projects overseen by the Washington State Department of Transportation and the Georgia Department of Transportation took home top honors at the 2020 America’s Transportation Awards competition. Awarded during AASHTO’s Annual Meeting, those national winners each receive $10,000 cash awards donated to a charity or scholarship of their choosing.
