The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials is supporting a new webinar series on transportation equity and the Black experience in the industry hosted by the Council of University Transportation Centers or CUTC.

Called “Changing the TIDE in Transportation” – with “TIDE” standing for “Transparency, Inclusion, Diversity and Equity” – the first episode in this webinar series featured a panel of national transportation leaders who will discuss their “lived-in experiences” in society and in their transportation careers as a Black individual.

The second episode – to be held April 7 — focuses on defining problems as they pertain to Black Americans in transportation, discussing ways to further equity and inclusion as well as review actions being taken at the Federal level through modal administrations and through the Transportation Research Board.

By creating an opportunity for learning and dialogue, CUTC hopes this series generates greater understanding of the Black experience in transportation and provide ways in which the transportation profession can become a more open and inclusive place for Black students and colleagues.
