The third webinar in the “Changing the TIDE in Transportation” series – with “TIDE” standing for “Transparency, Inclusion, Diversity and Equity” – will take place April 28 and will discuss how to create a “supportive environment” within the transportation research community.

The Council of University Transportation Centers hosts the “TIDE” webinar series with support from the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, the American Road & Transportation Builders Association, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Eno Center for Transportation.

The third TIDE webinar in the series focuses on what transportation research centers can do to create a supportive community for Blacks and African Americans who wish to study transportation.

Carol Lewis, professor at HBCU Texas Southern University, will moderate a discussion on that topic between Hau Hagedorn, associate director of Portland State University’s Transportation Research and Education Center and the National Institute for Transportation and Communities, and Thomas Carter, assistant dean for academics and student affairs at the University of Arkansas engineering school.
