Traffic safety professionals are encouraged to attend the annual meeting of AASHTO’s Committee on Safety for a deeper dive into several key industry topics, such as the growing focus on the safe system approach the U.S. Department of Transportation uses within the National Roadway Safety Strategy the agency unveiled in January.

Other sessions at the meeting will focus on ways to improve vulnerable road user safety, speed limit setting methods, performance management, a Highway Safety Manual update, and insights into AASHTO’s work to support the Towards Zero Deaths or TZD initiative, which seeks to eliminate highway fatalities.
